Biography
João is a 2x founder and engineer-turned-executive with 15+ years building data-driven products at the intersection of ML/AI and business.
His first venture, Inovretail, co-founded at 25, was a retail SaaS company that scaled across multiple European markets and business verticals, before a successful exit to Sonae IM. He is now a co-founder and Chief AI Officer at Tonic Easy Medical, where he is co-leading company strategy, while scaling a cross-functional Data & AI team across the full regulated AI lifecycle — from model development and clinical validation to MDR/SaMD compliance to go-to-market.
As an active contributor in the scientific community, he supervised dozens of MSc and PhD projects, while contributing to multiple knowledge sharing sessions and international conferences. He is also a Managing Partner in Savvy Capital (former COREAngels Portugal) where he is paying forward his know-how to new entrepreneurs.
