Biography
Gabriel Pires (PhD) is Assistant Professor (Professor Adjunto) at the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, and Integrated Researcher at the Institute for Systems and Robotics, University of Coimbra. Gabriel Pires received the M.Sc and the Ph.D degrees from the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2001 and 2012, respectively. He has been involved with several funded projects in the areas of Human-computer interfaces and assistive mobile robotics. His current research interests include EEG-based brain-computer interfaces, biomedical signal processing, multi-modal interfaces, and assistive technology. He is currently member of the direction board of the Portuguese Rehabilitation Society (Sociedade Portuguesa de Engenharia de Reabilitação e Acessibilidade - SUPERA) and director of the informal research Lab VITA.IPT- Assisted living by intelligent environments (Vida Assistida por ambientes Inteligentes) http://vita.ipt.pt/.
