Catarina Silva

Catarina Silva is a Postdoctoral Researcher at IEETA and an Invited Assistant Professor at ESTGA (University of Aveiro). Holding a PhD in Computer Science with a specialization in cybersecurity and privacy engineering, she bridges the gap between academic research and industry practice. Having previously served as a GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) Lead, she currently works as a consultant for several organizations in the areas of cybersecurity, privacy, and corporate governance. Her practical expertise focuses on translating complex regulatory frameworks such as NIS2, GDPR, and the EU AI Act directly into actionable engineering requirements. She holds certifications in Regulatory Compliance (University of Pennsylvania) and Law and Artificial Intelligence (University of Coimbra). Furthermore, she actively contributes to international standardization efforts, representing the European perspective within the IEEE Digital Privacy Initiative and participating in the Cloud Security Alliance's Compliance Automation Revolution working group.
