João Pedro A.

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science at Stanford University, California. Before coming here, I graduated (with First Class Honours) from Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Lisboa, Portugal, with a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I started doing research while still in high school (a project for which I was later awarded the First Prize in the European Union Contest for Young Scientists). While studying at IST, I continued to do research, with different professors and in different areas. I have published papers in semigroup theory and group theory. I also worked on optimization, system identification, supervised learning, and reinforcement learning.
